Abstracts:

Hongru Tian - Bioinspired Water Harvesting for Sustainable Development

Global water scarcity, intensified by climate change and urban expansion, urgently requires innovative and sustainable harvesting strategies. Inspired by natural organisms such as beetles and cactus spines, this research focuses on modifying aluminum surfaces to control wettability and enhance water collection efficiency. The goal is to develop a scalable, low-cost, and bioinspired strategy for sustainable water harvesting applications.

Matis Marcadier - Phase noise properties of super-continuum generation in all-normal dispersion fibers

Supercontinumm generation in nonlinear media is a highly efficient method to extend the spectrum of femtosecond pulses and a crucial part of carrier-to-envelope phase (CEP) stabilized systems. Within this framework, all-normal dispersion (ANDi) optical fibers have recently gained significant attention for SCG due to their ability to produce highly coherent spectra with low noise. By combining experimental and theoretical approaches, we quantify the phase noise of supercontinuum generated in a commercial polarization-maintaining ANDi fiber and set a noise floor level for CEP-stable systems based on intra-pulse frequency mixing.
