The Institute opens its doors

Internships

The Institute offers middle and high school students the chance to discover research careers in physics. This internship is an opportunity to share the day-to-day life of researchers, engineers, technicians and students, while visiting the different experiments carried out in the laboratory and/or taking part in some of them.

The weeks already dedicated to this internship are:

  • 17 November to 1 December 2023
  • 18 to 22 December 2023
  • 19 to 23 February 2023

If you would like to take part in one of these sessions, please send us a covering letter.

Few testimonials:

  • "I spent a wonderful week. I enjoyed every meeting. I discovered people passionate about their work, and it’s encouraging to know that it’s possible to practice a profession one loves."
  • "During these five days of complete immersion in a professional environment, I learned a lot thanks to the availability of the laboratory team. With the thorough planning and the conscientiousness of all the tutors, who explained things to me with passion, my academic orientation became more clearly directed towards science. In addition, they made me excited about going to work later."

Visit the Institute

We welcome high school students for half-day visits to present them activities developed at our Institute. These include an introduction to the Institute, visits led by researchers to their laboratories, and much more. Don’t hesitate to contact us to plan a visit.

Teacher training

If you are a physics or chemistry high school teacher and are looking to learn about advances in physics, contact us. We can offer you training tailored to your needs.

Outreach at institutions

We travel to institutions for presentations about research professions and/or our research activities tailored to your needs. Contact us to plan a visit.

French National Science Fair

Every year, the Institute participates in this large, national event by organizing and presenting enjoyable and interactive workshops, such as: “See Sound”, “Play with Materials”, and “Tame Light”.

Conferences for the general public

Specialists share their knowledge

With the French Physical Society (SFP)

Each month, the SFP presents a seminar for the general public.

Examples of seminars for the general public given by members of the Institute:

  • Meeting about the violin’s sound, or how to explain the violin’s sound
  • Everything about fiber optics
  • The richness of complexity in physics
