Controlling the shape of small particle clusters with a macroscopic field
Institut Lumière Matière, UMR5306 CNRS, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1
We model the control of the shape of small atomic or colloidal monolayer clusters
undergoing thermal fluctuations via the tuning of a macroscopic external field.
When a microscopic model of the dynamics of the cluster is known, we use an
optimization procedure called Dynamic Programming to achieve control.
Using Reinforcement Learning, we then show that such a control is learnable from observations without any knowledge of the model.
